Sage is popular among Central American Native Americans who practice shamanism.
Sage is associated with the element of earth. The herb Yerba Santa is named after the Spanish monks who were fascinated by its beneficial effects. It is used to honour ancestors and renew spiritual powers, but also to relieve various difficulties such as coughs.
White Sage and Yerba Santa work together effectively. In a way, Yerba Santa Sage is a cleansing method that can change the state of consciousness. The leaves come from the Eriodictyon Californicum plant, which grows in southwestern California. Yarba Santa gives the sage a sweet scent.
Its use is relatively simple. The bundle is burnt, left to burn for a short time, blown out and left to ash on a non-combustible support such as a shell, plate or bowl. The smoke from the bundle can be dispersed around the room by hand or with a bundle of feathers. After the ceremony is complete, the end of the incense can be cut off, left to incinerate and the remainder of the bundle used in the following form.
