MEINL Wind Gongs are traditionally handcrafted in China using a special bronze alloy. Each gong is made by hand, ensuring excellent sound quality and durability. These gongs are also known as Feng or Sun Gongs, and their name reflects the unique sound they produce, which is ideal for both meditation and musical performances.
Flat Shape and Wide Vibration Range
The MEINL Wind Gongs feature an almost flat shape, allowing the gong's sound to fully open up. Thanks to this design, the gong’s vibrations spread across a wide spectrum and sustain for a long time. The sustain and spreading resonance ensure that every strike produces a rich, clear, and powerful tone, while the resonance lasts for an extended period.
Deep Tones and Sizzling Overtones
The sound of the MEINL Wind Gongs is primarily deep-toned, which dominates with softer strikes, providing a smooth foundation. However, with stronger strikes, the gong beautifully opens up and produces wave-like overtones that enrich the sound. The sizzling overtones provide a unique acoustic experience, while the gong’s sound dynamically evolves and expands.
