MEINL Wind Gongs – Handcrafted Work and Rich Acoustics

The MEINL Sonic Energy Wind Gongs are traditionally handcrafted in China using a special bronze alloy. The carefully developed technique ensures the gongs’ unique sound, providing a powerful and dynamic acoustic experience typical of traditional Chinese gongs.

Feng or Sun Gong – Unique Shape and Distinctive Sound

MEINL Wind Gongs are also known as Feng or Sun Gongs. The gongs have an almost flat shape, allowing the sound to fully open up. Due to this flat design, the gong’s vibrations spread across a wide spectrum and sustain for a long time. This results in a rich, clear sound that lingers for an extended period.

Deep Tones and Sizzling Overtones

One of the key features of the MEINL Wind Gongs is their deep-toned sound, which dominates with softer strikes. With more powerful playing, the gong beautifully opens up and produces wave-like overtones. The sizzling overtones enrich the sound, while the gong’s tone dynamically changes and expands. This unique sound makes the gong particularly suitable for musical performances, meditations, and sound therapy applications.

Available Sizes and Accessories

MEINL Wind Gongs are available in various sizes, ranging from 12" (30 cm) in diameter to 48" (120 cm). Each gong comes with a mallet sized appropriately to fully utilize the gong’s acoustic potential. The gong is also supplied with a cover to protect it when not in use.
