The large, yellow, star-shaped flowers of the tall, evergreen tree (Cananga odorata) bloom all year round and produce a very strong, intensely fragrant essential oil. Native to the Philippines, the name means 'flower of flowers' in Malay. Galdoil essential oils are made by distillation, where hot steam is passed through the picked plant parts, opening the small pockets between the cells where the essential oil is hidden. The small aroma molecules stick to the water vapour particles and continue their journey through small tubes where they gradually cool the water. As the water cools, the essential oil is released and remains on the surface. This is separated from the surface of the water and bottled.
