Citronella oil is steam distilled from the leaves and stems of Cymbopogon plant species, especially Cymbopogon nardus. This essential oil is known as a plant-based insect repellent, a non-toxic bio-pesticide, and its use has been registered in the United States since 1948. The main producers of citronella oil are Indonesia and China.
In addition to being a natural insect repellent, this oil is excellent for relieving excessive sweating, as well as for oily skin and hair care and as a deodorant. It can relieve rheumatic symptoms and arthritis, as well as treat flu, colds and minor infections. It is excellent for curing digestive disorders, coeliac and intestinal infections and for destroying intestinal parasites. It relieves menstrual cramps and pains, used in vaporizers to relieve fatigue, headaches and neuralgia, and creates a cheerful mood.
In ancient cultures in India, Egypt and elsewhere where the Cymbopogon grass species grows, citronella was used to repel insects, especially mosquitoes. At this time, people settled mainly near rivers. Although this had many benefits, they also had to put up with insects and mosquitoes, which meant illness and often death. So the insect repellent effect of lemongrass literally saved lives back then.
Its use is not recommended during pregnancy and for children under 3 years of age. Do not consume internally!
Professional Essential Oils are available in special packaging, mainly for aromatherapists and users who use them in larger quantities.
