Neroli essential oil is extracted from the flowers of the bitter orange tree (Citrus aurantium var. Amara) and has a fragrance similar to bergamot. The flowers are collected by hand and the oil is produced by steam distillation as the flowers are too fragile for steam distillation. It is one of the most popular essential oils for its wonderful fragrance and therapeutic properties.
Neroli essential oil is very calming and is said to relieve chronic anxiety, depression, fear, depression, shock and stress. It is also thought to soothe intestinal cramps, colitis and diarrhea. Because of its sedative properties, it is good for insomnia, palpitations, neuralgia and dizziness. It is good to use as a vaporizer in sick rooms, helping with convalescence. Neroli oil was used by the ancient Romans. In 1680, Anna Maria Orsini, Princess of Nerola, used the oil of bitter orange tree to perfume her clothes and bath water. Since then, this essential oil has been known as Neroli. Legend has it that these orange blossoms were used to decorate bridal beds to make the newlyweds' rest more pleasant. The oil is quite expensive to produce it is very important that the flowers are collected immediately after blooming while they are still fresh.
